Jazz Richards says Swansea City is the perfect place to further his ambitions after signing a new 18-month contract.

The 20-year-old defender made his Premier League debut after coming on as a substitute in the defeat at Norwich City earlier this month.

Richards, who is also Wales Under-21s captain, was keen to commit his future to the club as his previous deal was due to expire next summer.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract," said Richards.

"I've really enjoyed being part of the squad in the last few seasons and I feel I am developing all the time.

"It was always my dream to play for my hometown club, so you can imagine what playing for the club in the Premier League means.

"It was only a brief appearance against Norwich, but it was an amazing experience despite the result.

"I feel I am very much part of the manager's [Brendan Rodgers] plans here. He is always keen to give youngsters a chance and that is very encouraging.

"There is no better place for me to learn my trade."

Swansea have also bolstered their backroom staff with the arrival of Glen Driscoll as a performance consultant.

Driscoll recently left Chelsea after 10 years at Stamford Bridge, where he worked under managers Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti.

The 36-year-old will oversee and support the medical and performance departments at Swansea until further notice.

"He's got a great background and tremendous experience and expertise,'' said Swans boss Rodgers.

"He is unique in the fact that he is a specialist in both medical and physical conditioning.

"His expertise will help both departments of the club and his arrival is a massive boost for us.''
