John Afoa John Afoa came on as a replacement in New Zealand's World Cup wins over Japan and Argentina
New Zealand World Cup winner John Afoa will arrive in Belfast later this week and is set to feature in Ulster's Pro12 match against Connacht on Saturday.
Prop Afoa agreed a deal to sign for Ulster in March but his arrival at Ravenhill was delayed by his involvement at the World Cup.
Afoa, 28, came on as a replacement in New Zealand's wins over Japan and Argentina in the tournament.
Rory Best and Stephen Ferris are also in the squad for Saturday's match.
Ireland World Cup regulars Best and Ferris were rested for last week's defeat by Scarlets because of the IRFU's player management programme.
Afoa's arrival will be a boost for Ulster who have lost their last four games.
On Monday, Ulster also announced the signing of former South African full-back Stefan Terblanche as a short-term replacement for the injured Jared Payne.
After winning their opening three Pro12 games, four successive defeats have dropped Ulster to ninth place in the 12-team league.
Since joining the Auckland Blues in 2004, Afoa has made over 100 Super Rugby appearances.
He has represented New Zealand at School, U19 and U21 levels and in 2005 he made his senior debut for New Zealand against Ireland.
Afoa has signed a two-and-half year deal with Ulster.
